Happy Autumn to us all!

A few moments from this beautiful day...

  • we foraged as squirrels around the neighborhood, hunting for nuts (it's as amazing as ever to me that a whole big oak tree comes from an acorn, and that there are so many different kinds of seeds and methods of delivery out there)

  • we painted rocks

  • we made 'nut paintings' by putting a paper in a cigar box, squeezing in a (beautifully restrained) amount of paint, and shakin' and rollin' the nuts around

  • of all the kids (and me!) sitting at the table, Honey asks Eloise to fill up her water bottle

  • Eloise is emerging as a leader for this group!

  • Hazel does 60% of the clean up (that I don't do!), Eloise does 30%, Honey varies greatly, and Weslee and Skylar, well, I am confident that someday they will transition from observers to participants

  • none of the kids have mentioned that we are not doing 'jobs' the way were did last year. this is not that surprising. they also don't ever mention the materials that 'disappear in the closet'.

  • everyone but Skylar had a nap today. best of luck at bedtime. it's likely I will be in bed before they are.

And I can't remember the rest.
