Kit passed yesterday after his long battle with cancer. I told the preschoolers today while we were playing with slime. The kids talked about the pets they have loved that have passed, trying to make sense of this. We read 'The Goodbye Book' by Todd Parr, and later 'Ida, Always'. It's going to take time for all of us to make sense of this, that is, if sense can be made of it all. I'm not sure it can. But I extend the heart and strength of the Rivendell Community in support of this beautiful family. We are so so sorry.

AND, we are going to 'keep it normal' here at Rivendell. If Hal and Oly bring up the topic, I will answer questions and steer the conversation as best I can. But others, same ole same old: live love laugh cry, learn. While the Littles slept, Hazel, Honey and Maddie played. They were wolves, they were gymnasts, they were princesses, and I heard a lot of: "pretend your mother is dead. we're orphans". They are processing.

AND, today was Skylar's last official day. (She might come on days when there is space, such as Thursday. Do let me know if you plan to skip school!). Her time here was short, but we welcomed her into our community and each and every person leaves their mark. Thank you, Skylar, for shining your light with us!
